Hydro clones play a crucial role in determining the efficiency of mud shakers, thus the more the number of hydro clones, the more efficient the device is. Furthermore, shakers that use hydro clones with large diameters such as ten inches have a larger surface area for drilling fluid accommodation. This is in comparison to hydro clones with small diameters such as six inches. Hydro clones are made from a number of materials. However, there are three major materials used in the industrial manufacture of hydro clones, which include, stainless steel, polypropylene and urethane lined stainless steel.
